Run it yourself: live acoustic spectrum analyzer
The Spectrum Lab is a complete end-to-end demonstration of room acoustic analysis that runs in your browser against your own microphone — nothing is uploaded or recorded. It captures 1024-sample blocks at 16 kHz, applies a Hamming window to suppress spectral leakage, runs a real FFT into 513 bins at 15.625 Hz resolution, and averages the magnitudes into three bands: 60–250 Hz (footsteps and structural rumble), 250–3000 Hz (speech), and above 3 kHz (hiss and fricatives). Every intermediate stage is shown — raw versus windowed waveform, magnitude spectrum, waterfall, and the exact terminal output — alongside the runnable numpy + PyAudio source that produces identical numbers on the command line. The page also states plainly what the method cannot show: every room has a noise floor, a 16 kHz sample rate makes anything above 8 kHz invisible by construction, and a reading only means something when compared against a baseline.

How to search the web and medical journals about paranoia
If you would rather read the primary sources than take anyone's word for it — including this site's — that instinct is a good one. Search PubMed and the Cochrane Library rather than general web search, using terms such as persecutory delusions treatment, cognitive behavioural therapy psychosis systematic review, worry intervention persecutory delusions randomised, insomnia treatment psychotic experiences trial, duration of untreated psychosis outcome meta-analysis, or medical causes of paranoia differential diagnosis. For plain-language summaries use MedlinePlus, the NHS Health A–Z, the National Institute of Mental Health, and the Royal College of Psychiatrists. Prefer systematic reviews over single studies, check dates and sample sizes, and be wary of any source that offers certainty, sells a remedy, or tells you not to talk to doctors.
The evidence base is substantial: cognitive behavioural therapy for psychosis (CBTp) is recommended in national clinical guidelines including NICE; randomised trials targeting worry and insomnia specifically, such as Oxford's Feeling Safe programme, improve both sleep and distress; early intervention services are associated with better outcomes than standard care; and longer untreated periods are associated with worse ones, which is the strongest practical argument for asking sooner.
